Rules for home-based pilots
After 20:00, home-based aircraft may no longer depart from Kiewit airfield.
It is also prohibited to perform training flights around the airfield between 20:00 and sunset (no circuits, no touch-and-go's…).
Pilots wishing to fly in the evening must have taken off before 20:00 and must fly outside the Aero-Kiewit circuit.
Returning aircraft must have landed before sunset; landing until sunset +30 minutes does not apply at Kiewit.
The local community strictly monitors compliance by Aero-Kiewit vzw and all pilots; it is therefore up to all of us to respect the rules.
Prior permission from the airfield supervisor or their deputy is required before every flight; this also applies to pilots flying their own aircraft.
Airfield opening hours per environmental permit
Daily from 07:00 (Local Time) until sunset, with the following restrictions:
- • It is prohibited to fly, both take-off and landing, from sunset to sunrise.
- • It is also prohibited to fly from 20:00 until sunset, except for:
- — navigation flights (flights departing from or arriving at another airfield);
- — the return departure of visiting aircraft;
- — glider flights.
- • The flight ban also applies on all weekdays from sunrise until 07:00 and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from sunrise until 09:00.
- • This flight ban on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays between 07:00 and 09:00 does not apply to a maximum of 6 departing aircraft per day, with a maximum of 50 aircraft per year.
